World Objects

Books of Hope

  • Players can read books with tales of hope and renow to decrease Dread.
  • These Hope Manuscripts are found in ancient chests, or can be recovered by Historians.
  • Players with knowledge of the language the manuscript was written in can can translate it to other tongues, if they have the Translation skill.
  • Manuscripts can be traded, but once read, they are bound to the reader
  • They can be used many times to reduce Dread, but they incur decay and must be repaired at times.
  • Books can be stored in a vault or bookcase within Player Housing or Kinship Halls.

Books of Speech

  • These books teach a player how to speak a language.
  • Such books can be found in old chests, as drops off certain NPCs, or crafted by Scholars with Writing skills.
  • Language books can be traded but are consumable. Once read, they are removed from the game.
  • Books are available to teach Sindarin, Quenya, Rohirric, and Adunaic. Dwarvish and Dunlendish do not have books available to teach players.

Equipped Torches Coming with Mines of Moria

  • Holding Torches can create various effects
  • Benefits
    • Extra chance to reveal cloaked creatures at Night
    • Drive certain animals back
    • Lifts morale of group
    • Lowers Dread of group
  • Disadvantages
    • Torch timed to go out
    • Torch only functions at Night
    • Increases agro radius of intelligent monsters (goblins, outlaws)
    • Takes up an off-hand spot

Useable Items

  • Various Books and Items around the world can be picked up and read. Some will unlock quests, some will unlock a Deed, some will simply be lore.

Campfires

  • You can put out a campfire you built by Right-clicking on it.

Inscribing Items

  • Players can inscribe an item with a short message in Tengwar.
  • Inscription can be made in other languages if the player is skilled in them.

Origin Items

  • As characters progress through the game, opportunities will become available to win tokens of their land of origin.
  • Items such as pendants, rings, circlet, a tabard, or cloaks, marks of their country such as the the Horse of Rohan, or Tree of Gondor.

Keys

  • Require some chests within an enemy camp to need a key dropped by one of several mobs, rather than being open to everyone, unless your character can pick locks.
